Leipzig, Germany, 5 September 2025: DHD (www.dhd-audio.com) has chosen IBC 2025 (Amsterdam, 12-15 September) as the launch venue for the latest version of its RM1 all-in-one portable audio production and broadcast system. The new RM1 Pro has all the features of the original model plus additional tools and options which enable deep integration with studio-based DHD systems. It will be demonstrated on DHD stand B46 in Hall 8.
“Our design aim with the RM1 was to bridge the gap between podcast and broadcast,” says Marc Hermann, managing director of DHD. “The new RM1 Pro introduces extra capabilities for professional broadcasters who are working remotely, including tighter connectivity with DHD infrastructure located at a host broadcasting centre. Capable of operating as a voice booth, a workstation, or built into a flight case, the RM1 Pro’s versatility and compact design make it fit anywhere. Core control networking allows the exchange of logic commands with other DHD devices for talkback or on-air signalling. Users also gain access to individual DHD Toolbox configurations plus the ability to create an RM1 Pro user interface tailored to their workflow. RM1 Pro behaves like a standard DHD Series 52 core device so additional software or features such as remote faders can be licensed if or when required. The remote faders option, for example, allows RM1 Pro channels to be controlled from another DHD system or vice versa.”
The RM1 and RM1 Pro are complete studio-quality audio production systems, each housed in a robust desktop unit measuring just 210 x 185 x 44 mm WDH and weighing only 1 kg. Capable of operating from a wall outlet or USB-C linked power source, they are designed for applications such as remote or onsite broadcast contribution, live news production, web radio and podcasting. Features include AD/DA interfacing, audio preamps, 48 volt phantom power for condenser microphones, audio mixing, EQ and signal dynamics processing. AutoMix mode automatically balances incoming audio channels, conforming background audio to a presettable level and minimising distractions. Settings can be adjusted to enhance individual presentation styles.
Connection with external hosts or guests can be established quickly and easily including n-1 mix-minus clean feeds on all return channels to avoid echo and feedback. The control screen can be supplemented by a browser-based interface, allowing operation from a Mac or Windows computer, tablet or a smartphone, or from a Streamdeck via the API. Multichannel recording can be performed to the computer via USB-C.
Also on demonstration at IBC will be latest-generation v1.3 software for the RM1 and RM1 Pro. including the following additions:
- Loudness metering and automatic level control keep signal levels consistent with EBU R128, improving sound quality and ensuring compliance.
- View options allow switching between peak programme metering, EBU R128 loudness metering and customised loudness metering.
- Profanity delay, adjustable up to 100 seconds.
- Auxiliary buses enable two flexible sub-mixes to be used for advanced routing, streaming, separate headphone mixes or external processing.
The RM1 and RM1 Pro both support 48 and 44.1 kHz sampling rates and have an external bit depth of 24 bits. Internal processing is 32 bit, floating. Frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz within -0.05 to + 0.03 dB. Complete specifications can be seen at https://rm1.audio/
