Leipzig, Germany, January 13th, 2024: DHD will introduce a major enhancement to its range of digital audio studio equipment and systems at Hamburg Open 2025, Hamburg Messe & Congress Centre, January 15th-16th. A highlight exhibit on DHD Stand 207 in Hall B6 will be a new collaboration with ai|coustics, demonstrating reconstructive voice enhancement.

“Directly integrating ai|coustics’ technology into our XD3 IP Core gives live broadcasters and postproduction editors powerful tools for repairing defects which have hitherto been almost impossibly difficult to overcome,” comments Christoph Gottert, DHD international sales manager. “Potential applications include enhancing the audibility of a sports commentator in a noisy stadium or a weather presenter reporting from the centre of a storm. The process preserves the original vocal characteristics by using the speaker’s own voice to replace any missing or degraded elements, whether a fraction of a second in length, a syllable, a word or an entire sequence. It is a superb application of machine learning technology combined with very advanced algorithms.”

“We are proud to have been selected as a technology partner by DHD Audio, a leading provider of broadcast-quality audio production systems and related software,” says Fabian Seipel, co-founder of ai|coustics. “Our AI-powered technology does not replicate someone’s voice; instead, it repairs the audio signal and missing frequencies, avoiding ethical concerns around voice clones and preserving speaker identity and timbre.”

Cores form the heart of every DHD system by processing all the audio as well as connecting control surfaces. They also perform input/output routing and interfacing with the outside world. IP audio feeds as well as IP-connected remote device control can be closely integrated. Automated workflows and product virtualisation are also supported. The 1U XD3 IP Core provides connectivity options such as Audinate Dante, AES67/RAVENNA, AES3/EBU, Gigabit Audio, APC, MADI and analogue.

Three modules are available in the XD3 range: a controller and IP core, a 12K router extension plus DSP extension offering additional audio processing capabilities. These can be operated individually or in redundancy mode as a fully synchronous main and standby pair including seamless switching between the two devices.
