XD3 – High-capacity IP core

The high-capacity IP core for large broadcast facilities that require maximum routing power, modular DSP expansion and full redundancy. With a non-blocking audio matrix of up to 10,240 × 12,288 crosspoints, support for up to 96 stereo faders and dual-core redundant operation, the XD3 is built for mission-critical multi-room environments in radio and television. Multiple IPx slots integrate AES67/RAVENNA, Dante and MADI directly in the core, while hardened network security follows EBU recommendations.

  • Up to 96 stereo faders with modular DSP expansion

  • Non-blocking router matrix up to 10,240 × 12,288

  • Full dual-core redundancy for mission-critical operation

  • AES67/RAVENNA, Dante and MADI in a single core

Mixing and routing made modular

The XD3 IP Core is the ideal audio routing matrix (non-blocking) for modern broadcast environments. It features full configurability and modularity to tailor a system that fully supports your workflow.

It offers numerous connectivity options for Dante™, AES67/RAVENNA, MADI, AES3/EBU, Gigabit Audio, APC, or analogue signals.

Audio-over-IP

With two IPx expansion slots, the XD3 IP Core can directly integrate different Audio-over-IP technologies:

More IPx modules can be added via XC3 Concentrators connected to the Core via Gigabit Audio.

Modular power

Each XD3 IP Core (52-7550) already includes one DSP processor. By extending the Core with the optional XD3 IP Router module (52-7540), up to four additional 52-7530 DSP modules can be added, maximising the number of faders, busses, and DSP channels.

All of these DSP modules provide 40-bit floating-point processing for fader channels, channel processing, fixed processing and summing operations. Each module also adds routing capacity, supporting up to 24 Gigabit Audio ports in total.

Additional memory for channel delay and program delay is added with each DSP module.

Redundancy options

In redundancy mode two identical XD3 IP Cores work in sync. While the main DSP core controls the broadcast system, the standby DSP core is always ready to take over if necessary.

Besides DSP and controller redundancy, built-in redundant power supply inputs provide seamless switching between power sources.

Broadcast-grade network security

As broadcast facilities move to IP-based infrastructures, network security and resilience become critical design requirements. XD3 implements hardened security measures following EBU R143 recommendations, including VLAN segmentation, access control and encrypted management connections. For control network resilience, a bonding device provides automatic failover between ETH 1 and ETH 2, ensuring uninterrupted system management even if a network path fails. Combined with redundant audio transport via SMPTE ST2022-7, the XD3 protects both control and audio layers against network failures.
